Multicultural Opening Party

Organisers: Agrupamento de Escolas n.º 2 de Beja
Time: 9 March 2017
Location: Portugal
Event type: Opening event
Language: Português
Manifesto topic: Social cohesion, equity and equality
Target audience: Pais e encarregados de educação e outros públicos adultos
Description: Centro Qualifica AEBeja is a centre for the education of adults, within a state school – Agrupamento de Escolas n.º 2 de Beja – , and a part of a nationwide network of centres and governmental programmes for adult education, located in the Alentejo region, in the south of Portugal. We provide formal education and training, validation of skills/competences, and lifelong learning programmes for adults. Last 9th March a Multicultural Opening Party took place in our school. The event aimed at the official opening of the Centre and the handing out of the certificates for immigrants who have attended a Portuguese language course, as well as for adults who have concluded their qualifications through the process of getting their skills/competences officially recognised. During the event the participants were able to share and enjoy music, videos and food from their countries of origin. Such countries were, among others, Senegal, Guinea, Ukraine and Romania. It was an exciting moment of sharing as well as of merging different people and cultures together.
