Time: 25th March, 2017
Location: Linklater Pavillion Lewes, Sussex, United Kingdom
Event type: Forum
Manifesto topic: Life skills for individuals
Target audience: People with mild to moderate mental health challenges
Description: ‘The day is hosted by Sussex Traditions on behalf of The Traditional Song Forum (TSF). The Forum is a loose organisation devoted to the study and appreciation of traditional folk song and music, and holds meetings across the country to provide enthusiasts and researchers with a network for communication and support. There will be three sessions during the day – all are free and open to the public.
10am – 12.15pm at Linklater Pavilion (Doors open 9.30am)
The morning session will be devoted to an open forum discussion on matters concerning traditional song and music. Members and guests report on projects that they are planning or involved in, and share news, ask for help, information, or support, or raise issues of interest to others in the group. This is an excellent way of learning about what’s going on in our field around the country, and visitors are welcome to join in or just listen.
1.30pm – 5pm at Linklater Pavilion
In the afternoon, we have presentations devoted to Sussex topics. The full programme is yet to be finalised, but it will include a major presentation by Vic and Tina Smith on the great traditional singer from Horsham, Gordon Hall; a talk by Reg Hall about his time with Mervyn Plunkett meeting and recording singers and musicians in Sussex in the 1950s; and an introduction to the Sussex Traditions project and demonstration of its website and database.
7pm (Doors 6.30pm)
Traditional sing-around. Again, visitors are welcome to join in or listen.
Venue: John Harvey Tavern (Function Room), Bear Yard, Cliffe High Street, Lewes BN7 2AN
* Tea and coffee will be available at breaks during the morning and afternoon sessions. The Linklater is approximately 5mins walk from shops and quality eating establishments.
The John Harvey Tavern serves traditional pub food from 6pm-9.30pm.
